Corporate responsibility

The fashion industry has a responsibility to our planet and its natural resources. At Gestuz, we want to make sure that our dedication to fashion doesn’t come at the expense of the environment. To reduce our environmental impact and help make a positive change, our CSR strategy is based around clearly defined areas that are continually developed and updated as new possibilities and initiatives emerge. We believe action speaks louder than words.

Our collections incorporate recycled polyester, made from recycled PET plastic bottles transformed into polyester fibres. The nominated supplier for this is a leader in this field and can provide garments with a special chip in the granulates to ensure we can trace the origin of the garment. Gestuz only uses by-product hides that are a natural part of food and livestock farming. Ethical leather is sourced from transparent supply chains, which makes it possible for us to easily trace the leather from its farm area and ensure that the region’s animal welfare lives up to the beliefs of Gestuz. Currently, leather products labelled with Ethical Leather originate from New Zealand, which has some of the world’s strictest farm animal welfare laws and enforcements. By using their hides we make sure the animal has been well cared for. In addition to this, the leather is tanned at a facility certified with both environmental and social standards, where water usage is reduced by reusing 60% of the discharge.

From 2018 organic cotton has been introduced into our production. Organic cotton is produced using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. The organic production system maintains soil fertility and reduces the use of toxic pesticides and fertilisers – safer for the planet, farmers and consumers.

We have banned the use of real fur and angora wool. Furthermore, our animal welfare policy prohibits live-plucking of birds and general unethical treatment of animals. We only use down and leather that are by-products of the meat industry.

Gestuz operate using a chemical restrictions list of harmful chemicals that we do not allow in the manufacturing of our products. We test garments in their production countries to ensure that illegal or harmful chemicals aren’t present, both to ensure the health of our consumers and also our production workers and the environment.

Gestuz is a part of DK Company’s A/S CSR policies and goals, and thereby contribute to the overall sustainability strategy. For a more in-depth look at our compliance program, material strategy and other sustainable initiatives please visit
